As part of the implementation of this project, we invite you to participate in the round table “Analysis of the Implementation of the EU Nitrates Directive (1991-2026): Achievements, Shortcomings, and Challenges for Ukraine”, which will take place on June 9, 2026 (10:00 AM – 4:00 PM Kyiv Time / 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM CET).
Aim of the event: to discuss the European experience in implementing the Nitrates Directive (91/676/EEC) and developing a roadmap for its effective implementation in Ukraine; to analyse water monitoring mechanisms, the identification of nitrate-vulnerable zones, and the promotion of best agricultural practices for environmental protection and the development of a circular economy.
Key Tasks:
Block 1. Legal and Institutional: Harmonization of Ukrainian Legislation with the EU Nitrates Directive
Block 2. Environmental Monitoring: State of Water Pollution by Nitrates
Block 3. Agronomic and Technological: Good Agricultural Practices and Circular Economy
Block 4. Social and Educational: Training Change Agents and Community Engagement
Block 5. Economic and Long-Term Impact: Sustainability, Incentives, and Post-War Reconstruction.
We invite scientists, doctoral and postgraduate students, researchers, undergraduates, university professors, as well as representatives of state authorities, local government, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to participate.
Round Table Organizers and Coordinators: representatives of leading European universities, coordinators of the EU_NITRA_UKR project, and leading scientists of NULES of Ukraine.
